Post PGM P.S.A.
A friend of mine got a new 301 and I did a complete rebuild and set up on it for him. Since it's an 07' with the new neck, I took this opportunity to really compare the old and new necks. I'm using an 01' AANJ old profile Ibanez neck to compare.

The new necks WILL NOT work on pre 05' bodies without serious neck pocket work. I used an extra AANJ 550 body for a test mule. Even with all the paint removed from the pocket, it will not fit. The 04' and older necks will fit the 05' and newer bodies, however there is a serious amound of neck pocket space. I took several pictures to show the difference in fit, and difference between the actual butt of each neck. So in closing, anyone looking to do any guitar part swapping, keep this in mind.

Oh, and just in case anyone ever wondered what a 301 would look like with a bound rosewood fretboard and sharkstooth inlay. --Jason

A DIME'S WORTH OF SPACE?
normally a dime's worth wouldn't be such a problem but on an instrument, hell a wafer thin space can make all the difference.

wow, thanks for posting this. i just assumed that any pgm neck (or ibanez neck) would fit any ibanez guitar perfectly (obviously i have not done any major guitar builds  )

Thank again for this "PGM PSA" :)

This same information goes for ANY of the 05' and newer, 5-piece, 24 fret necks. The RGA, RG15XX series and higher, are all included. --Jason
