Post Gentlemen, Behold! New Custom.
Here she is. What once was a mild mannered RG421, has evolved in the PGM421. A special thanks goes out to Eddie for the expert control cavity routing. Here are some start to finish pictures. :D --Jason

It looks great.

I have a project body that I stripped. I was thinking about doing something similar, but in a different color.

Thanks guys! I wanted to build something completely different, that combined some of the features from my favorite PGMs. I'm extremely happy with how it turned out. I think it looks pretty cool, and it sounds great.

As far as body mods, there was A LOT of filling on this one. I filled the control cavity and plugged the old holes before I sent it to Eddie to be routed. Then, once I got it back, I filled the pickup cavities, and added a filler piece at the base of the neck pocket. There was going to be too much of a gap between the neck pickup and end of the fingerboard if I didn't. I drew up a print so a friend of mine could take it to work and have a humbucker router template laser cut. After I had that, everything went pretty quick. The bridge humbucker is actually moved back toward the bridge 5mm so I could get even spacing between the pickups. Tone Zones can sometimes lack some high end and be over-bassy, but that's not the case now. Moving it back seems to eliminated that problem. It sounds even better than they usually do.

I knew I wanted fully bound, reverse headstock with sharkstooth inlay neck. They're not that easy to come by. Especially if you want MIJ quality. That was really the last piece of the puzzle. I was going originally going to cut a graphite nut, but I'm glad I didn't. The factory lock nut adds that little extra brightness. I don't have any doubt now that's a factor in Pauls tone.

Here's a rundown of the guitar;

Neck - 95' Ibanez RGR470 (Wizard profile)
Body - 00' Ibanez RG421 (Basswood)
Pickups
-Neck - Dimarzio Breed
-Middle - Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell
-Bridge - Dimarzio Tone Zone
CTS 500k Volume Pot
Schaller Super Switch
Paint- Dupont Automotive Base Coat / Clear Coat
Color - 03' Ford Competition Orange
- 97' Ford Lapis Blue

The Switching is a little different too.
1. Neck Series
2. Neck Parallel
3. Middle Series
4. Bridge Parallel
5. Bridge Series

To me, wiring humuckers parallel sounds so much better than using two individual coils from different pickups. Still stratty, but more output. With the volume rolled slightly back, they really sing. Better balance between position 1&2, and 4&5 too. Plus, It's still hum cancelling in every position. I knew I wanted three humbuckers, and my biggest concern was that it would look good, but sound like ass in the middle position. The Humbucker From Hell in the middle position is the shit! No longer is the middle position useless! It's not overpowering at all, and has got a nice crisp tone, that's not too bassy.

Overall, it plays as nice as my 301, is as attention grabbing (if not more) as my 100, and sounds almost as good as my 800. It doesn't sound exactly like any of the others, and that's pretty much what I was going for. I kinda lucked out, but I'll take it! :D --Jason
